Downtown New London Association will be holding its Eat in the Street events May 5th – Sep 1st. Bank Street will be closed to traffic 4:00 to 10:00 PM. Restaurants will have tables in the decorated streets, there will be vendors and roaming entertainment. May 5th the theme is Cinco de Mayo, which is also known as the Anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, a holiday celebrated in parts of Mexico and the US in honor of a military victory in 1862 over the French forces of Napoleon III. In the US, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage. Studio 33 will open the Bienvenidos Exhibit, a colorful collection of abstract paintings by New London artist Matty P., Robert J. Hauschild’s New London County scenes, and Gigi Mezzo Genovese’s local shoreline artworks. Sara Munro will serve her legendary Mojito Punch! The gallery will feature, for that one night only, a 15% off sale on anything red!
