May 5th the theme of Downtown New London Association‘s Eat In The Street event is Cinco de Mayo, also known as the Anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, a holiday celebrated in parts of Mexico and the US in honor of a military victory in 1862 over the French forces of Napoleon III. In the US, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage.
Studio 33 Art & Frame Gallery will open the Bienvenidos Exhibit that evening, Wed., May 5th, 5:00 to 10:00 PM. Bienvenidos means “Welcome” – we welcome all to join us in gathering again safely! The exhibit features a colorful collection of abstracts by New London artist Matty P., New London County scenes by Robert J. Hauschild, and the local shoreline art of Gigi Mezzo Genovese.
